What Do The Planets On Snapchat Mean?

Snapchat Planets tell you which friends are very close to you according to your interactions and streaks. There are 8 planets in the Snapchat solar system and they all represent your top 8 best friends on your list.

A best friend badge will be displayed on your friend’s profile if you and they are in each other’s Snapchat solar system. Note that the position varies from friend to friend. For instance, you may be Jupiter in one’s friend profile and Mercury in another’s.

How Does Snapchat Planets Solar System Work?

It works according to your interaction with your friends. However, this feature is only available to Snapchat+ subscribers. Here’s an example for more clarity.

Let’s assume you’re X and you’re friends with Y and Z. You’ve exchanged 5000 snaps with Y and 3000 snaps with Z. According to this data, in your Snapchat Friends’ Planets Solar System (in order), Y will be Mercury and Z will be Venus.

Mercury — Your 1st best friend

Mercury, the first planet in the solar system, denotes your first or closest best friend. You’ll mostly see it next to the person you chat with most. It is represented by a faded red color with 5 hearts plus 2 small stars around it.

Venus — Your 2nd best friend

The next is Venus—it represents your second best friend on your friends list. So, this is the next person you’ve interacted with the most after Mercury. It is shown as a yellow-white color with different colors of hearts.

Earth — Your 3rd best friend

Earth is the third planet on Snapchat’s planets system, and it represents the number 3 best friend. The blue and green combo of its Bitmoji makes it stand out from others. Plus, you will find a moon in the background.

Mars — Your 4th favorite friend

Mars is one of the Snapchat planets that takes the 4th position. It’s not a bad thing if you’re Mars to your friend. After all, the fired red color and purple hearts Bitmoji represents your beautiful self.

Jupiter — Your 5th best friend

If you see Jupiter next to your profile on someone’s friends list, it means you’re their 5th best friend. And nope, don’t worry about it. You still have a decent appearance on the Bitmoji.

Saturn — Your 6th best friend

The 6th planet on the Snapchat solar system is Saturn, depicting your 6th best friend on the list. We noticed it doesn’t have a heart around it but it’s still cute with the ring around it.

Uranus — Your 7th dearest friend

Meet Uranus, ably representing your 7th best friend on the list. Its fabulous color makes it unique and captivating. You’ll surely like it.

Neptune — Your 8th closest friend

How To Find Your Position in a Friend’s Profile

A fun fact about this feature is that you can always find your position in your friend’s Snapchat Planets system to check if they’re your favorite friend. Here’s how to check your position in your friend’s profile:

  • Launch the Snapchat app on your device.
  • Navigate to the Friends List.
  • Select the friend’s profile you want to check.
  • If you see a best friend badge alongside a golden ring wrapped around it, it means you both are in each other’s top 8 planets.
  • But if you see only a Friend badge with a golden ring wrapped around it, it means you’re in your friend’s top 8 planets but they’re not in yours.
  • Tap on the badge, and you’ll see a popup that shows your position as a Planet. If you’re Mars, you’re the 4th best friend of your friend.

How To Enable Snapchat Solar System

The friend solar system is disabled by default. So, even though you subscribe to Snapchat Plus, you must turn on this feature manually. Don’t worry, it will only take you a few minutes to do so.

  • Launch the Snapchat app.
  • Click on your profile icon at the top left side.
  • Locate the Snapchat+ section below your profile name and tap on it.
  • Here, you’ll find many options only available for Snapchat+ subscribers. Next, scroll till you see the Solar System.
