Why Does My iPhone Keep Turning On And Off?

If your iPhone keeps turning on and off and showing the Apple logo, it may be hard to determine the source of the problem. It can result from a problematic iOS update or a hardware problem.

Additionally, it could happen when you transfer corrupt files or jailbreak your iPhone. Fortunately, this is not a new issue. We’ll show you many quick fixes to help solve the problem.

How To Fix an iPhone That Keeps Showing Apple Logo And Turning On And Off

Although it could be challenging to determine why your iPhone keeps turning on and off and displaying the Apple logo, there are several simple fixes you can try.

It could be that you need to charge your iPhone. However, if that isn’t enough to fix the problem, forcing a hard restart on the device usually does the trick. Alternatively, you can try other fixes mentioned below.

1. Backup your iPhone

Ensure you have a strong backup of all your apps and data before you begin any troubleshooting procedures on your iPhone. However, this option may not be helpful if your phone is restarting so frequently that you cannot use it.

Meanwhile, if you can, back up your iPhone to iCloud or your computer because you might not have another opportunity to protect your data if your phone’s hardware breaks and you risk losing all you have on your device.

2. Charge your iPhone

If your iPhone keeps showing the Apple logo while continuously turning on and off, the issue could be that your battery is low. But, before proceeding with something else, first, charge your phone and see if it turns back on and remains stable.

Even though this may not fix the issue, it’s worth charging your battery to enable you to perform other troubleshooting procedures.

3. Force restart your iPhone.

You might be able to stop your phone from restarting itself constantly by performing a hard reset. Based on the model of your iPhone, the procedures will vary, but it usually includes simultaneously pressing the Power and one of the Volume buttons.

Turn the phone back on roughly a minute after the complete shutdown to see whether that fixed the problem.

4. Ensure you installed the latest iOS update

Checking for iOS updates is among the first steps you should take whenever your iPhone keeps turning on and off. Your iPhone may repeatedly restart due to a severe bug or another problem in your current iOS version.

To check your iOS version, go to the Settings app and tap General. Then, tap Software Update. Now, you can install any updates from here if there are any available.

5. Check your iPhone’s error logs.

Similarly, the issue could be because an app generates a colossal error. So, if the continuous turning on and off began after a recent app installation, uninstall it immediately to see if that fixes it.

Otherwise, you can still see if there is an issue you can quickly pinpoint by looking at a log that your iPhone generates. To do this, open the Settings app, then select Privacy. Now select Analytics & Improvements, then pick Analytics Data.

You will find a long list of reports here. However, you can review the most recent reports to see if a particular app is listed more than once. Note that this list is not easy to read.

If so, it might be causing severe errors. However, uninstall the app and check if it solves the issue.

6. Update all your apps

Even though no app is giving you issues, ensure you update all of them. To do this, go to the App Store and press the account icon at the top right corner. Then, you will see a section titled Upcoming Automatic Updates (if any apps need to be updated). Select Update All.

7. Check your battery’s health.

Battery health gives two essential pieces of information: the maximum charging ability of your battery and how your battery’s health affects the functionality of your phone. You can also find out if your battery needs to be replaced through the Battery Health section.

To check your battery’s health, open Settings > Battery > Battery Health. If your Maximum Capacity is deficient, it may signal battery issues. And if you see anything beyond “Peak Performance Capability,” it could mean a problem with your battery.

8. Restore your phone back up with DFU

You’ll need to perform a DFU restore on your iPhone if it keeps turning on and off and showing the Apple logo. To do this, first, use a USB to connect your iPhone to a computer.

Then, in iTunes, back up your iPhone. After that, put your iPhone into DFU Mode and restore it from the backup you made.

9. Reset your iPhone to factory settings

Before calling Apple customer care, this is your last resort if nothing has stopped your iPhone from restarting continuously: Reset your iPhone to its factory settings, wiping out all installed apps and data.

If this is the cause of the problem, it would fix your iPhone’s issue right away. Remember not to allow iOS to immediately restore your apps and data once you factory reset your iPhone.

So, use the “factory fresh” iPhone and see whether it solves the problem. If so, you can try to restore your data. However, if the issue reappears, you’ll need to perform a factory reset on your iPhone, then manually reinstall any previously installed apps.

Don’t restore from a backup because the bug that caused the issue is likely in your data. You will have to start over.

10. Call Apple For Support

If you’ve followed all of these troubleshooting fixes and your iPhone still keeps turning on and off while showing the Apple logo, there’s a chance the issue is hardware-related rather than software-related.

So, call Apple’s customer support to know if the phone requires repair or replacement because it is not an issue you can resolve on your own.

Bottom Line

Several factors can cause your iPhone to restart continually. However, it’s not something you should bother about, as many iPhone users also experience the same issue.

To help you fix this annoying issue, we provided possible quick fixes for this problem. But, if you have followed all the troubleshooting steps above and the problem persists, it’s likely to be a hardware issue.

Therefore, your final resort will be contacting Apple customer support for further professional assistance. Did you find these solutions helpful?
